Mika Danielyan the story behind the creative designer of
HARMONY
“My profession is the reason I’m alive” says the creative designer at Harmony Yerevan fashion house
“I was only five years old when I knew I will be a big designer” Mika recalls. But pursuing that dream wasn’t easy. Growing up in a conservative family, in a time and place where such ambitions were unacceptable, made it challenging to fully express himself.“People found it hard to understand,” he says.
“But I never gave up. I was determined to bring my vision to life.”
“I started sewing when I was in kindergarten,” Mika says with a smile. “I was only five” By the time he started school, his passion had already grown into a small business. “From the first grade, I was sewing skirts for dolls and selling them. That’s how it all began.”
School, however, wasn’t his favorite place. “I didn’t do well because all I could think about was clothes. I’d draw women, shoes, outfits on the table since I didn’t have paper, and the teachers would get angry with me for it.”
“I didn’t care ”
What inspires you?
“A woman is my inspiration,” Mika says. “I always think about who the woman wearing Harmony is. She’s independent, creative, brave, and intelligent”
“That’s our DNA”
What was the inspiration behind your latest collection?
“I was walking down the street when I saw a woman in a dramatic red dress. She was stunning but looked heartbroken, as if someone—maybe a man—had hurt her.
Her emotions were written all over her face, and I couldn’t shake the image. That moment inspired me to create a collection for brave, independent women, to remind them of their strength and help them believe in themselves.”
